Washington’s petal partiers will gather for the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s signature Pink Tie Party on Tuesday, March 20 at 7 PM. Chefs José Andrés and Roy Yamaguchi, innovators in the culinary community, will host the evening, exemplifying the international collaboration and creativity at the heart of the Festival. The sixth annual fundraiser and kick-off to the Centennial Celebration and the “season of the blossoms,” will be held at The Mayflower® Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel (1127 Connecticut Avenue, NW). Presented by Lincoln, and supported by The Mayflower Hotel, Macy’s and Capitol File Magazine, guests embrace the Party’s theme donning pink ties and springtime styles.

The Pink Tie Party will feature metro-DC’s top chefs’delicious spring-, cherry- and blossom-inspired cuisine and cocktails. The evening’s Auction Spectacular contributes to the Festival’s fundraising efforts offering everything from weekend getaways and yacht charters to concert, sporting, dining, and theater experiences and blossom- and Japanese-themed jewelry and apparel. The Festival is currently accepting item donations for the auction.

Proceeds benefit the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the beauty of nature and international friendship through year-round programs, events, and educational initiatives that enhance our environment, showcase arts and culture, and build community spirit.

Celebrated Chef Hosts

José AndrésChef José Andrés, raised outside Barcelona, Spain, is credited with introducing Americans to both avant-garde and traditional Spanish cooking. He is an internationally-recognized innovator, passionate advocate for food and hunger issues, author, television personality, and chef/owner of ThinkFoodGroup, with a growing restaurant empire.

 

 

 

 

 

Roy YamaguchiChef Roy Yamaguchi, born in Tokyo, Japan, took inspiration from his Hawaiian heritage and quickly became known for his trademark island inspired cuisine, focused on seafood with European sauces and bold Asian spices. His signature restaurant, Roy’s, first opened in Honolulu in 1988 and has grown to include over 30 across the world. Yamaguchi is also a television personality, cookbook author, and passionate advocate of culinary education and sustainable agriculture.
