During the reception portion of this annual gala, guests will enjoy sushi created by master Sushi Chefs of Japan, complementary Sapporo Beer and Mu Sake, and music by AVP, an all-male a-cappella performance group from the University of Virginia.
Following dinner, the highlight of the black tie evening is the formal introduction of the Cherry Blossom Princesses—and the spinning of the Wheel of Fortune. When the Wheel stops, one lucky Princess will be crowned the 100th Anniversary 2013 US Cherry Blossom Queen.
During the coronation, the new Queen will wear the Mikimoto Crown, a priceless Japanese work of art. She will also be given a smaller replica crown and a strand of Mikimoto pearls, presented by Mikimoto Co. as special keepsakes.
The evening rounds out with dancing to the sounds Prelude, as well as a DJ playing top-40 hits.
Valet Parking is available, along with garage parking or lot parking across the street. The hotel is also accessible via Metro (Gallery Place, Red Line).
The National Conference of State Societies (NCSS) established the Cherry Blossom Princess Educational and Cultural Exchange Program for the first post-World War II National Cherry Blossom Festival® in 1948. NCSS is the only civic organization that has sponsored National Cherry Blossom Festival events every year since then.
