2013 Official Art Unveiled
As part of a longstanding tradition, the National Cherry Blossom Festival selects an artist each year to create the official poster. For 2013, the acclaimed Erik Abel has created a bold, original work that is sure to become a collector’s item. His art depicts a prominent cherry tree overlooking the Tidal Basin, with the Jefferson Memorial and blooming trees in the background. The artwork will also be seen on a variety of Festival merchandise.
Abel began his career in the surf industry and has experienced commercial and gallery success over the past 15 years, fueled by his painted and graphical expressions of culture and nature.
