Festival Volunteer Information

Why Should You Volunteer? By volunteering for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, you participate in an incredible event in our community, make new friends, socialize and have fun! Join us in welcoming the many visitors and residents who celebrate the Festival.

Who Can Sign Up? We are looking for friendly, helpful, reliable volunteers to help with this exciting festival. Volunteers 18 and over are welcome. Volunteers with a knowledge of Washington, DC and the surrounding area are especially needed - many visitors are from out of town and they need your advice getting around!

If you have any special needs, or represent a group or individual with special needs please call 202-661-7595. Not all volunteer jobs are appropriate for all people.

Volunteer Requirements: In order for the Festival to communicate with you and schedule volunteers and programs effectively, volunteers must:

  • Sign up for volunteer shifts of your choice via an on-line form hosted by Volunteer Hub. Volunteer registration is now open. Click on the "Volunteer Now!" button to the left.
  • Be able to understand, agree, and follow the policies of the Festival as written here.
  • Complete the volunteer assignment in a satisfactory way (showing up on time, staying the duration, wearing volunteer shirt, representing the Festival in an enthusiastic, professional, positive manner.)
  • Notify the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible in the case of availability changes.

What Will You Have To Do? Volunteers are asked to assist in various areas including but not limited to event set-up, visitor interaction, and site maintenance.

How Do You Register?
To volunteer for the Family Day & Opening Ceremony, Washington Monument Welcome Area & Target Stage, and the Parade, use our on-line registration form hosted by Volunteer Hub. Click here to complete the Volunteer Registration Form.

Something to consider: DON'T DOUBLE-BOOK YOURSELF! When completing the application and/or volunteering for a partner organization, please take care not to create conflicts by stating availability / interest in events with overlapping dates and times, or multiple shifts on the same date with less than an hour in between.

By registering to volunteer, you will hold harmless and indemnify the National Cherry Blossom Festival, its affiliated companies, officers, directors, sponsors and employees from and against any loss, damage liability, claims, cost and expense including legal fees which may be incurred by reason of my volunteer participation in the National Cherry Blossom Festival, unless such claims are a result of gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
