This special performance of Rakugo, a traditional Japanese form of comic theater, marks the opening of the landmark exhibition Inventing Utamaro. Actor Katsura Sunshine will bring a masterwork by the 18th century artist Kitagawa Utamaro to life, revealing its hidden stories.

A robust schedule of public programs complement the Inventing Utamaro exhibition. Visit us online for more information on the exhibition, related programs and events.

The Freer|Sackler is open daily, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., except December 25.
Admission is free.

The Freer|Sackler is located on the National Mall at 1050 Independence Ave SW. The Freer is closed for renovation through October 2017. Please enter the Sackler through the Haupt Garden.

We recommend taking public transportation. The museum is steps from the Smithsonian Metro stop. Limited on-street parking is available, including reserved spaces for visitors with disabilities.
