AboutMake-A-Wish© grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Mid-Atlantic chapter carries out this mission in Central and Southern Delaware, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia and events such as Walk For Wishes make that possible. Walk For Wishes invites the entire community – past, present and interested supporters – out for a day to celebrate granted wishes and raise critical funds for those local children who are still waiting for their one true wish.
Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic grants wishes for children in our region ages 2 ½ through 18 who are deemed medically eligible by a medical professional. The conditions we work closely with include, but are not limited to, cancer, pediatric AIDS, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Duchene’s muscular dystrophy, kidney and heart disease.
Walk For Wishes will feature local celebrities, games, facepainting, crafts, an opportunity to hear more about the wish experience and a lap around the picturesque National Mall. We invite the public to join us the day of the event, but also encourage pre-registration and fundraising at www.WalkForWishesDC.org.
