Goodwill Ambassadors
Each year the National Cherry Blossom Festival selects a group of young adults to be part of one of its most highly regarded and signature programs: the Goodwill Ambassador Program. The final group is comprised of talented, energetic individuals who have a true passion for international relations, community involvement, and the Festival. The Goodwill Ambassadors program is proudly supported by Thomas Pink and Lilly Pulitzer.
Goodwill Ambassadors in past years have had the opportunity to meet the Ambassador of Japan and leaders in the DC community. They’ve been involved in the Festival’s Neighborhood Tree Planting and Youth Ambassador programs, coordinated hands-on activities for children, and have served as an indispensable resource for visitors to the Festival. After their Goodwill Ambassador experience, many of the individuals have indicated that the contacts they made through the program were helpful as they embarked on professional careers as well.
College students and recent graduates interested in learning more about the Goodwill Ambassador Program are encouraged to review the application and contact Elissa Staley with any questions.

RECENT EVENT – Origami Hour on Thursday, September 13, 2012
Prospective applicants for the 2013 program were invited to attend an Origami Hour hosted by the Festival’s Goodwill Ambassador Alumni Network. Attendees folded paper cranes, networked with former Goodwill Ambassadors, and received application tips from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at The Loft at Busboys & Poets (5th and K Street location). All cranes made at the event will be sent to the Hiroshima Children’s Memorial in Japan. Please note: Attending this event was not a requirement for submitting an application for the 2013 Goodwill Ambassador Program.
Special thanks to DC Fashion Incubator member company Cain & Carlyle located at 760 N Street, NW at the DC Convention Center for producing the 2012 Goodwill Ambassadors’ uniform jackets for the Press Conference.
